Problem:
In January 2024, the police cleared the ‘Tümpeltown’ treehouse village in the Leinemasch nature reserve in Hanover. In a capitalist world, solidarity-based climate protests often have a bad reputation. Many people have no access to this form of protest. Instead, they react with a lack of understanding or even violence.

Idea:
For months, we visited the Tümpeltown forest occupation, which had been resisting for two years. We developed various storytelling approaches to make this place and its destruction tangible. The aim was to create an immersive exhibition that informs and visualises the emotions of the protesters - a place where people have the opportunity to engage with protest without reproach, for a positive experience.

Solution:
The exhibition combines various media formats: a large-scale photo collage, a documentary film and a 360° tour that gives visitors the opportunity to walk through Tümpeltown again. The highlight of the exhibition is a furnished tree house with an experimental animated film made from 3D scans projected onto the ceiling. The exhibition space with its original banners and ropes was designed in the hope of promoting understanding for the climate movement.
