Task:
FLINTA* people (women, lesbians, inter, non-binary, trans and agender), especially TINA* people (trans, inter, non-binary and agender), are increasingly exposed to discrimination and hatred. These range from the criminalisation of abortions to the denial of the right of trans people to exist.
Idea:
typography is a crucial first step in promoting the visibility of different gender identities and creating more diversity in a male-dominated field. To do this, we need a font that powerfully expresses diversity. The idea is to give space to a dynamic FLINTA font, designed by a FLINTA person, to show unequivocally: "We will not be ignored!"
Solution:
The font "Compton" offers an insight into the realities of life for FLINTA* people. Whilst it is deliberately provocative and loud, it also highlights the positive facets of being a FLINTA. It addresses aspects such as beauty ideals, gender roles, sexuality, queerness, equality, menstruation, diversity and literature, which has often played a significant role in resistance and progress.
