"Sichtbar – Frauen in der Architektur" is the result of the collaboration between photographer Anke Illing and students in Prof. Dominika Hasse's editorial design seminar at the HAWK Design Faculty in Hildesheim. Internationally renowned publisher Gerhard Steidl accompanied the seminar as a guest critic. He facilitated the Tritone printing of the black-and-white photos, as well as the high-quality finishing, and ensured a hardcover publication of the highest quality. For the seminar students, this meant being able to try out an extremely demanding project under real conditions as part of their studies in the Project Lab of the Design Faculty, with production support from Dipl.-Des. Tatjana Rabe.
The internationally renowned jury justified the award as follows: "The book brings together Anke Illing's portraits of women from all areas of architecture, from architectural offices to specialist journalism, from planning to implementation, from urban planning to networking and teaching. Students from the Editorial Design program jointly developed the idea of a text block reminiscent of building structures to translate the individuality of the individual protagonists portrayed in the design. The idea of a collage ultimately won the day for the title: a motif that allows the imagination the necessary space."
